ABHI & AISH doing funny acting in Ladies and Gentlemen

Abhishek Bachchan is acting funny with wife Aishwarya - in their first comedy together called ‘Ladies And Gentlemen’. They were last seen on screen in ‘Raavan’, which was declared a dud.

To be produced and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film is slated for a 2012 release and is set to go on the floors in the first week of July this year. "It`s a great script, very funny and Raj-ji is directing it. We`ve been very keen to work together for a long time. I`m very happy that we will be finally working together," he said.

I was very keen to do a comedy after a spate of more serious films and also Aishwarya and I haven`t done a comedy together, so I`m excited about this film," Abhishek told reporters in an e-mail interview from Murmansk, Russia.

In the film, Abhishek plays a guy with an insatiable roving eye and Aishwarya sportingly allows her husband to do so.When asked to give more details, the 35-year-old said: "It wouldn`t be correct to speak about the film at this juncture."In the last two years, he has only worked in serious movies like ‘Paa’, ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ and ‘Dum Maaro Dum’.

Abhishek and Aishwarya, who tied the knot in 2007, teamed up for the first time on screen for the 2001 movie ‘Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke’. Three years later Rohan Sippy roped them in for his directorial debut ‘Kuch Naa Kaho’ and then JP Dutta made ‘Umrao Jaan’ (2006) with the two -- all these films didn`t do well.

In Sanjay Gadhvi`s hit action thriller ‘Dhoom 2’, they shared the screen, but not as a couple. Aishwarya also made a special appearance in the hit song ‘Kajrare’ in the Abhishek starrer ‘Bunty Aur Babli’.

Vote for Aishwarya or Katrina for Bhandarkar’s Heroine

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Katrina Kaif are two top contenders to play Marilyn Monroe in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’.

Talking to a daily, a source said, “‘Heroine’ is now a toss-up between Aishwarya and Katrina. The film will go on floors as soon as either of them is finalized. The rest of the cast is not going to be too difficult to put together.”

Apparently, Madhur Bhandarkar had decided to shelve the film when his first choice, Kareena Kapoor, backed out at last minute. “Yes, he had put it off. In fact, he was very, very disappointed that Kareena could not come to terms with the role,” said the source.

However, with the current development in ‘Heroine’, the source added, “Everything is okay. Both Aishwarya and Katrina are fine actresses. Both can do ample justice to the role, which requires a lot of style and character as well. Bhandarkar and UTV took a joint decision to revive the project and short-list Aishwarya and Katrina as the options for the lead role. The decision was taken as the film’s script is extremely hard-hitting and such a story is just waiting to be told.”

Aish and Abhi retruning from Oscar programe

Aish and Abhi in “The King’s Speech” Star Colin Firth

Bollywood stunner Aishwarya Rai, who walked the red carpet at the Oscars this year along with her actor husband Abhishek Bachchan is in awe of ‘The King’s Speech’ star Colin Firth. So much so, that she expressed her desire asking Colin to visit her homeland - Mumbai.

Colin was ecstatic with his Oscar win and was overheard saying he couldn't believe he was holding the trophy in his hand. They spoke for about 10 minutes and agreed to catch up again when the madness (the entire Hollywood junta wanted a piece of Colin at the party) surrounding Colin subsided.

She was seen cheering when he won the Best Actor award for The King's Speech. She was disappointed when he didn't win last year for his performance for A Single Man.

The lady had rubbed shoulders with Firth in ‘The Last Legion’ and was ecstatic when he won the Academy Award for the best actor category. Ash was at her loudest best while cheering for the star while his name was announced as the winner of the Best Actor at the Academy awards this year.

Moreover, the lady joined Firth in his celebrations and raised a toast for his achievement. The two top actors, one from Hollywood and its Indian counterpart spent over ten minutes together and even planned a meeting in Los Angeles.

Hrithik Roshan has teamed up

Guzaarish` is the first time Hrithik Roshan has teamed up with acclaimed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The 36-year-old actor plays a magician who turns into a paraplegic bound to a wheelchair after a magic trick goes wrong. The actor says, though the movie is intense and tragic, it also makes people smile.

Bhansali, who has directed films like `Black` and `Devdas`, is known to be a hard task master but Hrithik says the filmmaker gave him full freedom.

Aishwarya, who has acted with Hrithik in `Dhoom 2` and `Jodhaa Akbar`, plays his nurse in `Guzaarish`. They share a special bond which eventually turns towards love.

"I was sceptical about the role because I was evolved enough as an actor and was apprehensive whether I`d be able to translate his creative genius onscreen. But when Mr Bhansali narrated the script, he had me crying and laughing at the same time and I couldn`t wait to start working," said Hrithik.

"The film is dark, intense with a tragic story but it is magical as it makes people smile. Ethan is the happiest character I have ever played and he puts a smile on everyone`s face," said Hrithik, who was in the capital Tuesday to promote the film which releases on November 19.

Hrithik has paired opposite Aishwarya Rai for the third time and the actor says that his equation with the former Miss World is "perfect".

"Ten years ago, we gave our first shot together for a cold drink commercial. Our equation has been perfect ever since. Our approach to work is similar. Its great to work with a friend and there are no ego issues between us," said the actor.

Review of "ROBOT"

Rajinikanth latest film ‘Robot’ is a roller-costar ride, where you will see not one Rajni, but hundreds of them eating up helicopters, smashing cars, battering planet earth and creating havoc, like never before.

In the movie, Rajni plays Dr Vasi, who creates a robot who can not just serve tea and coffee but one who can be of great help for the welfare and goodwill of the nation.

However, trouble ensues when he adds an element of emotion and feelings to his creation. The result is that the robot falls in love with the professor's girlfriend, Sana (Aishwarya Rai).

Situations become uncontrollable for Rajni when his own creation becomes a formidable opponent and love rival, thanks to the red chip installed by Rajni’s nemesis Danny Dezongpa. Now, will Rajni be able to tame the rogue robot or will the world have to succumb to the vicious intentions is a million dollar question.

There are gravity defying stunts, shooting with a finger, running horizontally at high speed on the side of a train, flying cars and bikes, corny but hilarious dialogues -- e.g. after grabbing and pointing scores of guns at the police, he says 'Happy Diwali' before firing a salvo of bullets; or when the robot is asked his address and gives his IP address. It's not just god, the universe and its logic itself is recreated in the film.

Director Shankar who has a penchant for double image, multiple images and split images of his heroes returns this time with hundreds of images of Rajnikanth. The inspiration of Hollywood, most predominantly the "Matrix" trilogy (stunts choreographed by Yuen Woo-ping of "Matrix" fame), "The Mask", "I, Robot", and many Frankenstein movies are evident, but not overbearing.

Where Shankar scores is the ingenious conception of stunts. The allegedly 'poorer' cousin of Bollywood, the south Indian film industry, has been growing leaps and bounds in the special effects department. And with a little help from Hollywood, like in "Robot", it soars.

Aishwarya created a record of 125 costumes in ‘Action Replay’

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has created a record of sorts in this category, as she will be seen donning over 125 costumes in her much-anticipated Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Action Replay’.

‘Action Replay’ is based on a Gujarati play of the same name that Vipul had staged over 15 years ago. Be it their stage performances or film sequences, B-town beauties are known for their passion for changing costumes.

So, while most actresses don about an average of 40 costumes per flick, Ash will be seen in a different gear each time you blink your eye!

And how does the film justify this drastic step? Well, Ash's character in the flick loves to dress up and is shown having a fetish for clothes. So the stunner is shown flaunting new outfits throughout the movie.

Confirming the news, Vipul told a daily, "It's a script requirement. That's how her character is etched out. She is simply a person who loves to wear clothes and keeps shopping all the time. I had no clue that the number of costumes had extended to such a number that the girl who was managing her costumes kept coming to me for more and more space to keep them. That's when I realised that the number had gone so high."

Aishwarya and Saharuk Khan work again after long time

The last time SRK and Aishwarya shared the silver screen was in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Devdas.’ However, after the infamous ‘Chalte Chalte’ debacle, both SRK and Aishwarya never worked together.

news has it that Shah Rukh and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are all set to mend their professional relationship.According to the latest Bollywood news, SRK approached the light-eyed beauty to play a cameo in his upcoming flick ‘RA 1' at a recent social event.

“Shah Rukh mentioned a scene to Aishwarya where she has to play herself in the film. It is a cameo. The scene is yet to be scripted, but so far it is about a character in the film who is Ash’s biggest fan and actually gets to meet her. Abhishek, who was listening, encouraged Ash to do it. It was a general conversation that night but one hopes it materialises. It would be great to see Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a Shah Rukh starrer,” added the source.

When enquired Anubhav Sinha, the director was unavailable for comment. Incidentally, the spokesperson of Aishwarya said, “Nothing of this sort has happened, nor has she been approached for it.”

Freida Pinto - the latest competitor for Ashwarya Rai

The last updation we got from Aishwarya Rai’s front was that even a fairly new actress like Sonam Kapoor was proving to be a competition for Mrs Bachchan but the latest news doing rounds in the film industry is that ‘Slumdog’ sizzler Freida Pinto is Ash’s competitor now!

Abig brand that has Ash as its international brand ambassador and Sonam as the Indian brand face is now signing Freida Pinto as one of their international models.

Since Freida will also be representing the same brand hence she shall be walking the red carpet at all major international film festivals next year, giving Aishwarya company.

Freida, who has bagged films with Hollywood biggies is also expected to be on the jury of some of the biggest film festivals in 2010.

Looks like it’s time for Aishwarya’s monopoly to end finally!

Aishwarya and Abhishek to be parents next year

The big, happy Bachchan family is about to get bigger as filmdom’s dashing couple Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan are all set to go the family way. The dazzling twosome, it seems, have decided to go for parenthood next year as they dedicate this year to finishing off all pending jobs and assignments.

According to the latest Bollywood news, Ash has been keeping busy this year as she plans to go for motherhood next year. The actress aims to seal all her projects to give full priority to her family.

According to a source close to the couple, the two feel pressurised into starting a family. Besides the relatives and the overtly curious media, the two are often dumbfounded when strangers come up to them and ask such personal questions.

Speaking to a news daily, a source said, “The two of them are fed up of relatives, strangers and relative strangers asking them when the stork is visiting. It’s as if their parenthood is a public issue. Even when they are at airports waiting to board flights, over-exuberant ladies rush to them with an inquisitive look on their eager faces. Even before these fans open their mouth, Abhishek knows exactly what the question is, and he gets visibly annoyed. Aishwarya handles such over-inquisitive attention far more graciously.”

But now, Aishwarya feels naturally inclined to start a family. The actress is busy working round-the-clock to complete her topnotch films including Vipul Shah’s ‘Action Replay’, Shankar’s ‘Robot’, Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavan’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Guzaarish’ for which she starts shooting in Goa in August, followed by Abhinay Deo’s ‘Crooked’.

Ash becomes queen again after married life....

At the recently held Longines launch event in Mumbai, Ash however transformed herself from an actor into the Miss World she used to be few years ago!

She obviously spoke about hubby Abhishek and her Bachchan family but what she also commented upon was the ongoing ‘global economic crisis’!

Ash said, “We all are citizens of this country and recession will touch everyone’s life. However, I cannot speak about the entire film industry. Ash however transformed herself from an actor into the Miss World she used to be few years ago. All I know is the word ‘management’ is of prime importance. It’s about managing and not questioning how do I manage things. Taking more than you can chew will only create chaos. Yes I am leading a hectic lifestyle for a while but I believe in taking only as much as you can effectively give. If I am internally happy it shows. I have never deliberately tried to show how happy I am.”

Flop Stories of Aishwarya and Kareena

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor is the best examples of being famous for their flops. Kareena Kapoor has had it easy, literally. Kareena left the blockbuster role of female lead in Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai against Hrithik Roshan, she managed to garner much more publicity for her flop debut, Refugee, than what Ameesha did for her superhit starter.

And she was the beginning of a new mantra to market a diva — hit or no hit, the Brand has to hit the headlines.Even after a lists of flops like Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Yaadein, Asoka, Jeena Sirf Tere Liya, Tashan etc the youngest Kapoor kid saw all the big names from Karan Johar to Yash Chopra to Mani Ratnam and Boney Kapoor vying for her attention.

They have talent as well as beauty, and I guess this combination is more than enough to please the audience. Similar was the case with Chunky Panday who, apart from Aankhen with Govinda, has no film to be remembered him by. But he was one of the hottest dial-a-quote stars of late 80s.

We are only here to do good work and definitely we choose our leading ladies according to what they suit best. Like Refugee wouldn’t have been the same without Kareena and Umrao Jaan without Ash was unimaginable.” What a hit explanation! One can easily understand the need of branding whether it’s in business world or the world of show-business
