Aamir won hearts in Blockbuster 3 Idiots

The 45-year-old actor has been passionate about the cause of education ever since he made `Taare Zameen Par`, the tale of a dyslexic child`s struggle to cope with the existing norms of education. He won hearts with his portrayal of an engineering student in blockbuster `3 Idiots.

The Rajkumar Hirani-directed film is the story of three students in an elite engineering institute reeling under pressure from the current educational system to excel in their
career.

"I was drawn towards stories about education ever since `Taare Zameen Par` and then `3 Idiots` happened. Cinema has the ability to reach out to people and more films upholding this cause should be made," said the actor.

Besides education, Aamir is also associated with the cause of malnutrition. "All these issues are linked. I am working with the Women and Children Welfare ministry as well as the UNICEF for the betterment of malnourished kids."

The actor was in the capital today to launch the book `Colours of my Rainbow` by Himani Verma, which chronicles the charitable work of Salma Ansari, wife of the Vice President of
India Hamid Ansari.

The book tells Salma`s struggles to set up schools through her Al-Noor Charitable Society to provide education to marginalized and underprivileged children in Aligarh.

Aamir Khan will play Negetive Role in ‘Dhoom 3’.

Aamir, who has earlier played negative roles in ‘Raakh’ and ‘Fanaa’, will be playing a very stylized villain in ‘Dhoom 3’.

After success of ‘3 Idiots’, Aamir Khan is in a fix, Yash Chopra have mutually agreed to work together, and if rumours are to be believed, Aamir might play the villain in the much-awaited multi-starrer ‘Dhoom 3’.

‘Dhoom 3’ will be directed by Sanjay Gadhvi. As of now, it is a win-win situation for Chopras in case Aamir signs the film, as their villain will become the most interesting
characters. By the way, the first film of ‘Dhoom’ franchise had John Abraham and the second instalment had Hrithik Roshan as its anti-hero.


Recently, Aamir met Aditya Chopra, who gave the actor a brief narration of the role in the film. Talking to a news daily, a source said, “Aamir has loved what he heard. In all probability, he will listen to the script on August 13 when he returns from Melbourne and Delhi.”

It is greatly believed that Aamir doesn’t wish to confirm or deny these reports as he will start reading the script only after the release of ‘Peepli Live’.

Meanwhile, a trade source says, “After ‘3 Idiots’ Aamir needs something very challenging and dynamic. And he knows that playing the villain in an established franchise like the ‘Dhoom’ series will create a huge buzz.”

3 idiot challanging Sholey

Trade analyst Amod Mehra said: "It took 34 years for a film to reach Sholay's level. This film is set a new benchmark for the film industry. The film has grossed about Rs 240 crore in just 10 days of worldwide theatrical business and may touch the staggering Rs 300 crore figure by the time it finishes its run. The film, apart from breaking Indian domestic market records, in this time has also emerged as the highest Bollywood earner even in the overseas markets.

But I shouldn’t have done this. I saw myself on TV (later) and saw how I was shouting ‘shut up! shut up!’ like an animal. I told myself - ‘what nonsensical behaviour’,” Vidhu Vinod Chopra said. The producer lost his cool when he was asked whether 70 per cent of 3 Idiots, which has grossed over Rs.100 crore in the first four days, was taken from Chetan Bhagat's book Five Point Someone.

Earlier, Chopra got angry and demanded to know if the journalist had seen the movie and read the book. The scribe said he had seen 3 Idiots but had not read Five Point Someone. This further angered Chopra, who got up and started shouting: “Then you shut up. When you have not read the book, then how can you say that the movie is 70 per cent of the book?” Chopra's reaction evoked anger among the reporters with many demanding that the filmmaker apologise.
